Ramona O. Bishop nee Hawley, a long-time resident of Park Ridge, graduated to heaven Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the age of 92 after a short illness. For 71 years she felt blessed to be married to Ralph Bishop, whom she fondly called “Ralph Dear,” former captain of the Park Ridge Fire Department. She loved being a wife and mother and in 1964 was recognized as the Northwest Suburban Homemaker of the Year.
When her daughters, Debra L. Bishop Towne (Curt) and Diane R. Bishop Hussey (Jerry), attended high school, Ramona started working part time at McDonalds. One of the first women hired and trained at the original McDonald’s, she retired after 25 years.
Ramona was proud of her three grandchildren, Brandon Hussey, Devin Hussey (Misty), and Tara Hussey Taylor (Jon). One of ten children, Ramona is preceded in death by her brothers, OV, Gary Hawley, David Hawley, and sister Barbara Hawley Gilberto. She is survived by Joyce Mudgett Pumford, Nell Buzas, Myrna Fese, Judy Grimm (Gary), Ann Hamm (Jim), and many nieces and nephews.
Ramona had a wonderfully warm and caring heart and spirit. She brought joy, humor, light, love, and liveliness to all. She will leave a huge hole and would ask us to be kind to one another.
