George McKann Obituary

George Craig McKann, age 79, of Park Ridge, passed away January 19, 2022.  George is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Alice, beloved son, Douglas and daughter-in-law Nicole, and cherished grandsons, Nathan and Griffin.  He was preceded in death by his beloved son, George Craig McKann, Jr. and his parents, George C. McKann, Jr. and Almeta (Gibbs) McKann.  George was retired from a career as an attorney of more than 50 years with the law firm of Gardner, Carton and Douglas, now Faegre, Drinker, Biddle.

George graduated with high honors from Lawrence University where he was a member and president of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, and from Northwestern School of Law.  He began practicing law in 1966, retiring only 5 years ago.  During that period he was a member of the Practicing Law Institute, a trustee on the SEC Historical Society, and a trustee of the Vermont Law School for 12 years. He represented his firm to the World Law Group, an international network of business lawyers, for over 20 years, and was elected president of that group. Locally, George served on the Chicago Central Committee with leaders from metropolitan Chicago.  He was a long time member of the Park Ridge Country Club where he served as a board member and President.

Interment will be private. The family will host a Celebration of Life at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Fund, the Salvation Army, Avenues to Independence, or the charity of choice.
