Megan Mrowiec Obituary

Megan Dawson Mrowiec (nee Schiefer). Age 88 of Park Ridge. Beloved wife of the late A. Kenneth “Ken” Mrowiec. Loving mother of Megan “Mimi” (Tom) Lenz, Kim (Bill) Toter, Ken (Julie), Jon (Jodi) and Andy (Robyn). Devoted grandmother of 26 and great-grandmother of 10. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary; her parents, Grace (nee Dawson) and Benjamin Schiefer; her siblings, Katherine “Kay” Bourgerie, Glee Bane and Benjamin Schiefer, Jr; and three grandchildren, Grace Lenz, Kyle Mrowiec and Micah Lenz. She is also survived by brother-in-law Ron Mrowiec, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Megan was 1952 Homecoming Queen at Eureka College. She was a resident of Park Ridge and member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church for 59 years, and worked as a real estate agent in Park Ridge for nearly 50 years. She was active in Park Ridge youth sports, Maine South Mothers Club, bridge club, and Girl Scouts. Megan and Ken were married for 63 years and loved traveling and ballroom dancing. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved spending time surrounded by her family. She loved much and was much loved. In honor of her generous spirit, her family donated her tissues for burn victims through Gift of Hope.

Interment will be private. A Memorial Reception will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020, from 1-4 p.m. at the Park Ridge Centennial Activity Center, 100 S. Western Avenue, Park Ridge, IL 60068. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Epilepsy Foundation in her name are appreciated.
