Joan R. (nee Glanz) Polishak

Joan R. Polishak, 84, of Chicago passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 22, 2019.  She was married to the late Thomas “Slim” Polishak for 42 years.  A wonderful and loving mother of nine, cherished grandmother of fifteen and dear great-grandmother of seven.  She is survived by all nine of her children Jayne (Jeff Schanna), Tom (Sharon), Maryann (Howard Fischer), Steven, Matthew (Eileen), John, Lisa (Rob Baxter), Mark (Jeanne), and Michael; grandchildren Michael (Tricia) and Rebecca Schanna; Tom, Rachel, and Ben Polishak; Greg (Kim), Chrissy (Luke Bohnsack), and Matt (Neely) Fischer; Luke and Nate Polishak; Nathaniel, Payton and Lindsay Baxter; and Jacob and Justin Polishak; great-grandchildren Avery, Riley and Hunter Schanna; Christopher, Elena, Laura and Ana Fischer; and long-awaited Baby Bohnsack.  Also surviving are her sister Lenore Glanz, brother John "Jack" (Carol), sister-in-law Susan Glanz, and brother-in-law Henry "Hank" Polishak.  She was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Mary Glanz, sister Dorothy "Dotty" Anderson and brother Edward "Eddie".  She is the adored "Aunt Joanie" to the many Shiverski and Polishak relatives.  Joan’s love, kindness, grace, deep faith and beautiful smile will be missed by all who loved and knew her. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday,  August 29, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 S. Northwest Highway, Park Ridge, Illinois.  On Saturday, August 31, 2019, visitation will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bark River, Michigan beginning at 9:30 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Perronville, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to JourneyCare Foundation at 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, Illinois 60010.
