Lynn Grace Hammersmith

Lynn Grace Hammersmith, nee Bletzinger. Born August 6, 1938, was peacefully called to heaven in the late morning on September 23, 2022. She was 84 years old.

An exceptionally committed and courageous wife and mother, Lynn was incredibly proud of her large family. She dedicated her life to their health and happiness. Lynn’s home was a universal gathering place, with her doors always open to friends, loved ones – and even their dogs. She was truly the glue that held everyone together.  

Lynn will be remembered for how she shared her heart and also how she spent her time. The lifelong Park Ridge resident also cherished Twin Lakes, WI – the home-away-from home where she hosted hundreds of loved ones over the course of many summers and created some of her fondest family memories. Lynn was a crossword puzzle pro, a world traveler, a seasoned baker and an accomplished bridge player who shared her love of the game and celebrated many milestones alongside some of her most beloved friends. 

Lynn was preceded in death by her brother, Jay Bletzinger; her parents, Fred and Bea Bletzinger; and her husbands, John Hammersmith, David Hill and Charles Jackson.

Lynn leaves to cherish her memories her sister, Judy (Bletzinger) Ennis; children, Debi Neuman, Scott (Debbie) Jackson, Steve Jackson, Andy Hill, John (Kelli) Hammersmith and Michael Hammersmith; grandchildren, Josh (Liz) Neuman, Marc Neuman, Melissa (Steve) Birch, Jeremy (Marci) Neuman, Jake Neuman, Cassidy Jackson, Savanna Jackson, John C. Hammersmith and Kaia Hammersmith; and great grandchildren, Claire Neuman, Harper Birch, Jack Neuman, Brock Neuman, and Easton Birch.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 7, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 S. Northwest Hwy. Park Ridge, IL 60068. A celebration of life and remembrance service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022, with further details to be announced.
