Luigi Notardonato

Luigi Notardonato, 84, affectionately known as Gino, of Park Ridge, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Gino was the beloved husband of Carmela (nee DiCristofano). He was the loving father of Piero Luigi, Anna Lisa (Chris Wilk), Sandra (Michael Hughes), Janet, and Anthony. He was the grandfather of Nicholas (Natasha), Marc, Thomas, Julia, Jeremy, and Luisa Grace and great grandfather to Jane and Penny. He is survived by his brother Antonio Notardonato (the late Sergia) and brother-in-law Dominic DiCristofano (Franca). Gino was predeceased by his parents Cesarino and Luisa Notardonato, infant brother Nicola and in-laws Alfonso and Assunta (nee DiSilvestro) DiCristofano.

Gino was born on May 9, 1939, in Castel San Vincenzo, Italy. He completed his education in Classical Studies (Liceo Classico) in Campobasso. Continuing in the field of pedagogy in Potenza, he was employed at the ENAOLI Institute in Porto Garibaldi, Ferrara. On July 4, 1964, he and Carmelina married in Italy, and on September 19 of the same year, they moved to Chicago to start their lives together. The center of Gino’s life was his wife and family.

In Chicago, he pursued a career in engineering, starting as a draftsman at Mojonnier Bros. Co., a beverage equipment manufacturer. In 1988, he and five partners founded Universal Beverage Equipment (UBE), where he worked until he was 80. While at UBE, Gino received several patents in his field.

Gino had a strong passion for learning, classical literature, and Juventus. He was a member of the St. Stephen & St. Vincent Society of Chicago.

Visitation Thursday, September 21, 4-9 p.m., at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 South Northwest Highway, Park Ridge. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 22, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 140 S. Northwest Hwy., Park Ridge. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
