John V. Berg

John Victor Berg, of Park Ridge, Illinois, born on August 22, 1947 in the Forest Glen neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois to Margaret Berg (Livingstone) and Victor (Earle) Berg, passed away at age 73 on January 14, 2021 in Chicago. John attended Schurz High School and graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.  He managed the family cheese wholesale business, V.E. Berg & Sons, until retiring in 2014.

John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane Berg (Novak) and parents, Margaret and Victor Berg. He is survived by his three children, Brenda Wright (Preston), Scott Berg (Ainsleigh), Christine Garcea (Tom), brother Thomas Berg, and grandchildren, Jameson, Killian and Murphy Wright, and Lucy and Tommy Garcea.

John was a kind, generous and personable man who had a gift of making others laugh. He could hold a conversation with anyone and always remembered details about a person, making a point to ask about their life in conversation. He thought of others before himself and was always there when you needed him. He loved tinkering in his garage, feeding and housing wild birds, and working in the yard. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. The family held a private graveside burial service and hopes to host a memorial for John in the next several months.
