James W. “Jim” Dunn, age 87, of Morton Grove, IL passed away at his home on April 7, 2021. He was born to Joseph and Frances Dunn of Chicago, IL on November 22, 1933, and
was the youngest of 3 children.
He was loved by many, including his wife of 65 years, Doris; his six children, Kathleen (Kevin) Tissot, Susan (Guido) Mariottini, Nancy (John) Golbeck, Tim (Teresa) Dunn, Tom (Lindsey) Dunn, and Chip (Carrie) Dunn; his 14 grandchildren, Eric, Elizabeth, Peter, Cole, Weston, Spencer, Kelly, Ryan, Megan, Claire, Piper, Remy, Ellison, and Tatum; his brother, Robert (Claire) Dunn and sister, Ruth Nelson; and many friends and neighbors.
He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, was a dedicated employee of the Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 42 years and Advocate Health Care for 12 years following his retirement from Illinois Bell. He was an Illinois Bell Pioneer and a Medinah Shriner. His hobbies included swimming at the Advocate Fitness Center, reading, gardening, traveling, and watching his favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs, play. He loved all sports, especially football.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 12, 9:30 a.m., until time of Service, 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 205 N. Prospect Ave., Park Ridge. (In consideration of current restrictions, a limited number and duration of guest attendance is asked to be observed.) Interment Private.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that any donations be made to support St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Park Ridge, IL or to the Medinah Shriners Children’s Hospital.
