Francis is preceded in death by his father Francis D Wolfe Sr, mother Marie Ratcliffe-Wolfe, brother Richard Wolfe, Elizabeth Van Der Bosch Wolfe (mother of Lisa, Theresa and Sarah), his wife Florence Wolfe and daughter Lisa Wolfe-Gilmer.
Francis was born on October 4th, 1932 to Francis Sr and Marie Wolfe in Hannibal Missouri. His family later moved to Illinois, where Francis graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School. Francis then pursued a degree in Animal Husbandry from Oklahoma A&M and a master’s degree in Genetics from University of Wisconsin. Francis worked for many years as a Commodity Broker at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), and was also involved in the Marketing Department, including giving lectures and educating visitors at the CBOT Visitor Center on commodity trading markets.
After retiring from the CBOT Francis attended law school at Loyola University and went on to work at the Cook County Public Defender’s Office. Finally deciding to retire for good, Francis and Florence moved and enjoyed a stay of eight years in Paris France. Francis ultimately enjoyed his final years back in the Chicago area.
Francis remained involved with Loyola University as an alumnus and active participant in the London Program, a trip he looked forward to every year.
Francis had many hobbies including reading, traveling, bike riding, Pilates and for many years as a private pilot. Earlier in his life he also enjoyed skiing, camping, running and canoeing. He was passionate about life and helping others and spent many hours serving his community as a volunteer at the Skokie Court House advocating for youths on behalf of the Moran Center.
