Dr. Francis “Kevin” Krist, Ph.D, a long-time resident of the Chicago area, passed away on July 2nd, 2023 at the age of 84. Kevin was born in Brooklyn, New York and received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Fordham University. Kevin had a life-long love of baseball and was a pitcher for the Fordham University Rams, with intentions to pursue a career in the minor leagues. A shoulder injury redirected Kevin to graduate school, where he received a Ph.D in Chemistry from Yale University.
Kevin’s career as a research scientist spanned over 40 years and he made many significant contributions to the advancement of renewable energy and fuel cell technology. He was also passionate about writing, finance, tennis, classical music and his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Erwin F. Krist and Marion (Hickey) Krist and is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret (Holleran) Krist, daughters Deirdre (Anthony) Leo and Erin (Stuart) Davis, grandchildren Owen, Nathan and Maeve, and brother Robert (Lily) Krist. A private funeral service will be held in his honor at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home in Park Ridge, Illinois
