Emanuel (Manny) Bachmeier 82, born in Regensburg, Germany, passed peacefully Sunday morning (September 17th, 2023), after a memorable evening with his family filled with dinner, dancing, and games. He leaves behind a legacy as a cherished husband, father, Opa, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife Erica, daughters Linda (Jack) and Carolyn (John), and grandchildren Matthew (Brittany), Derek (Elsa), Stefan, Michael (Kristen), and Claudia (Jackson).
Growing up the 5th of 6 brothers in Regensburg, Manny moved to Chicago at age 14. The Bachmeier family quickly became pillars of the German/American community, particularly within the Chicago Kickers soccer club. Manny's talent for soccer shone, playing a pivotal role in the US Amateur Cup championship team with the Chicago Kickers.
Professionally, Manny used his skills as a carpenter at Bernhard Woodwork. Later he joined his wife at Erica’s Jewelry. Together they enjoyed traveling the world and spending time between Chicago and Naples. Manny was passionate about golf, card games, rummikub, and especially soccer – having attended three World Cup tournaments. He cherished moments spent boating at their Fox Lake condo and enjoying pool time with his grandkids.
At the heart of it all was Manny's unwavering love for his family. His pride in his children was only surpassed by the joy he found in his grandchildren. His 59-year journey with Erica was the cornerstone of his life, marked by unconditional love.
Manny's legacy is one of kindness, integrity, optimism, and an attentive nature. His precision in work and life garnered admiration, and his nod of approval became his signature gesture.
Please join us in commemorating Manny's life. Visitation Thursday, September 21, from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Ryan Park Funeral Home, 120 S Northwest Hwy, Park Ridge, IL. Followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am at St. Paul of the Cross Church. Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. Please join us for a Celebration of Life to be held following the burial. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer's Association appreciated.
