Eileen Molloy, of Park Ridge, Illinois, passed away January 29, 2023, peacefully with her family at her side. She was born in Islandmore, County Mayo, Ireland to Michael and Mary (Queenan) Marley on January 7, 1935. She grew up in Islandmore/Lahardane, Ireland, with her 5 sisters and 1 brother. Her strong work ethic began at the early age of 14, when she worked at a local store in Lahardane and did her share of work on the family farm. After graduating high school, at age 18, she immigrated to the United States. Eileen’s independence was innate; she boarded a ship on her own to venture to the United States, meeting up with aunts and uncles in Chicago, Illinois, where she worked for the local church rectory, and then took a role as a check processor at Continental Bank on LaSalle Street. It was in Chicago where she met the love of her life, George Francis Molloy. Eileen and George first met at a dancehall where he captivated her with his dance moves. They were later married in 1963 and had their son, Gerard Francis Molloy a year later. She is remembered as a doting Mother, loving Aunt of Patricia (Burns) Morter and Susan (Burns) Redell, and proud Grandmother.
Eileen Molloy was preceded in death by her husband George Molloy in 1998, her parents Michael and Mary (Queenan) Marley, sisters; Bridget Marley, Margaret (Marley) Canty, Theresa (Marley) Reidy, her brother Patrick Marley, nieces Ann Marie and Christine Burns, and nephew Brad Morter.
She is survived by her son, Gerard and wife Heather (Witherow); her grandchildren; Giles, Gerard and Hunter Molloy and Nico, Siena and Alaina Gagliano, sisters; Violet (Marley) Feeney in Ireland, Gertrude (Marley) Burns and her husband Ed Burns, in Wisconsin, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
