Carolyn "Lyn" Hallman Obituary

Carolyn “Lyn” L. Hallman, age 92, died peacefully on April 29, 2023 in her apartment at The Highlands of Westminster Place in Evanston. Right after graduating from Wells College in 1951, she joined Connecticut General Life Insurance Company where she worked for 36 years. She became the first female Assistant Manager of a field office in 1976. She was a devotee of the Lyric Opera and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as well as the Chicago Cubs. She also loved to travel with her dear friends Maggie LaRoux and Sophie Siebert and had a wall of plates collected on her various trips. Her life motto could be stated easily - Be calm and carry on! And she maintained that to the end.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her parents, Carl and Mary Ledgard, her sister, Sylvia Henry and her brother John Ledgard.

She is survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews around the country. She will be missed by her friends at the Presbyterian Homes, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and her CGLIC friends.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 15, 11 a.m., at Elliott Chapel at Westminster Place, 3131 Simpson, Evanston, IL 60201. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to The Geneva Foundation, https://www.presbyterianhomes.org/geneva-foundation/, 8707 Skokie Boulevard, Suite 400, Skokie, IL 60077 in Carolyn’s name.
