Barbara Emerick Obituary

Barbara Ann Emerick, nee Truetschler. Age 82 of Park Ridge, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023. Beloved wife of Tom; loving mother of John (Runglawan), Laura (Matt), and Liz (Brian); proud grandmother of Caitlin (Brian) Wysocki, Harry (Amanda) & Brian (Katerina) Johnson and Richard (Stephanie), Jonathan and Daniel Dickerson; loving great-grandmother of Jackson Wysocki, Charlie Johnson and Leo Johnson.

Barb was born in Chicago on January 10th, 1941 to Fredrick and Ann Truetschler.  Barb treasured her family above all else and was married to the love of her life for over 61 years.  Barb knew Tom was “the one” just six months after meeting and were wed on July 8th, 1961.  Since then, the two were inseparable and shared a love that so few are gifted with.

Barb was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and friend.  Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family. Whether it was family visits to their home in Palm Springs or the mandatory full week summer vacation every year, Barb was her happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barb was an avid reader, a world traveler, a passionate golfer and dubious organizer of her beloved photographs of all family events.  She was a devoted Catholic who believed in the power of prayer. Through her loving spirit and kind actions, she taught her family many of life’s lessons.  Barb was gentle, sweet, kind and ever so welcoming to everyone she met.  She was the true emblem of class from the way she carried herself to the way she treated others.  There is not a day that will go by that her warm smile will not be missed.

The joy that Barb brought her friends and family was immeasurable.  She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
