Nancy Zuegel: October 20, 1962 – March 24, 2019
Born in Springfield, Illinois, Nancy was the first daughter of Barbara and Herbert Zuegel. She grew up in Park Ridge and was active as a teenager in the local Methodist church youth group, participating in numerous early Appalachian Service Project trips. A 1980 graduate of Maine South High School, Nancy attended Purdue University and graduated from Butler University with Honors. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta social sorority.
Nancy’s career included pharmaceutical and other sales, but over the last decade she enjoyed becoming an entrepreneur,
designing and installing gardens in the Atlanta area. With her gifts for color and proportion Nancy simply had to surround herself with beauty. Just before becoming ill, she purchased land and was planning to build her dream home near the shore in Charleston, South Carolina. During her entire life soft-hearted Nancy loved nature and all animals, especially her dogs.
Nancy leaves behind many loved ones, friends and extended family all across the country, but especially devoted parents Herb and Barb Zuegel, sister Carol Longman, and nieces Ellen and Anne Longman. As she had arranged, typically, Nancy’s beloved dog Fin has been adopted by a family with young boys and his dog brother near Charlotte NC.
There will be a Memorial Service for family and friends on June 1, 2019, starting at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary followed by a light lunch in Jordan Hall, at the Park Ridge Community Church…to which you may also honor her in lieu of flowers: https://www.parkridgecommunitychurch.org.
