Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Reid) Iwert

Elizabeth Jane Iwert "Betty", nee Reid. Age 91, was peacefully called to Heaven on March 14, 2017 in her Park Ridge home. She is the beloved wife of the late Wilfred; loving mother of Gary (Terry Finn) and Jane (Dr. Kevin) Barrett; cherished "Gram" of Jonathan (Jennifer) Iwert, Ashley (Michael) Beck, Kevin Barrett, Jr. (Kristina Fiore) and Shea (Andres) Almendarez; cherished "Great-Gram" of Sara Elizabeth Iwert; and Olivia Elizabeth Beck, born on the same day of her passing. She was adored by many nieces and nephews. Betty is survived by her sister, Do (Robert) Johnson. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Betty met her husband working at the telephone company in Oak Park and was married in 1950 in River Forest to "Big Wil."  She was prematurely widowed in 1980. 

Betty was employed at Medidentic in the early '70's and continued for years with the company after it changed to Abrix. She was strong in faith and devoted to St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Park Ridge; so enjoying for many years being a part of the "Women of St. Andrews." In addition, she volunteered for many years at The Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. Betty enriched the lives of all who knew her; family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and fellow churchgoers. Visitation will be held Friday, March 17, from 9 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m., at St. Andrews Lutheran Church 260 N. Northwest Hwy., Park Ridge. A private burial will follow in Chapel Hill Gardens-West Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rainbow Hospice, www.rainbowhospice.org, are appreciated.
